I Won Something 'Big' in January 2011...

On 15.01.2011 (Saturday), I participated in the Maxis Om Nom Nom Race organized by Maxis and Nuffnang. Me together with Daniel, Jeff and Nini formed a team named FOOD BRIGADE. We have well preparation including discussion on strategies to win, gadgets that we need and we even allocate our individual task during the race. Other than iPhone 4, the Finder301 application and Wireless Broadband provided by Maxis, we even brought extra three laptops, three cameras, iPad, additional broadband, portable charger and touch n go in order we won't trap in long queue for paying toll.

He is giving well explanation

How to play the game? First, you are given a GPS coordinate which is quite near to the restaurant that you need to go with a life saving envelope. When you reach the place, you need to get a clue from Maxis marshal. Then, solve the clue and you will find the name of the restaurant. By the time you reach the restaurant, you need to take photos from the restaurant, interior design and the food. Last but no least, you must blog about the restaurant then only you can leave the restaurant. We need to find FIVE restaurants and reach the starting point in 7 hours time. The restaurants were Strawberry Field Cafe, Tarbush Restaurant, Sate Kajang Hj. Samuri, Thai Base Restaurant and Dancing Fish. We were second place in the first two restaurants and then we were the first to arrive from the third restaurant.

Manage to take photo with Niki before we left

We managed to win the grand prize out of 15 teams. I think previous treasure hunt experience is quite useful for this race and also corporation between team members is very important for our success. I'm going to take photo with Mickey Mouse soon. Photobucket

Maxis Om Nom Nom Race - Dancing Fish

With the aid of Finder301 again we manage to find the last mysterious place without sweating much (okay, minus the sweat from running)

Seriously I am finding it easy to navigate around town without even having the need to install an external application. Trust me you will never get lost with it.

The best part of this place is because of the soothing ambiance and relaxing environment. You will feel like dining at home with all the not only nicely decorated dish but also yummilicious meal to fulfill your crave for best food in town. Dancing Fish is an Malay-Indon restaurant.

Introducing the appetizer - Emping with Sambal Terasi where it is a nutty slightly bitter taste that is perfectly balanced by famous terasi.

Dancing Fish is named after a signature dish here where you can actually eat up the fish bone. This is Dancing Fish with Kerabu Mango fried fresh from the tank serve with kerabu mango, so nice till the bone can be eaten, for real o.0

Next Tahu Telur.. Yum.. A tower of Tahu and flossy egg mixture.

Dancing Fish server free flow of Barley / Lime too )

Maxis Om Nom Nom Race - Thai Base Restaurant

Woot, yet another Thai cuisine. Man this place is kinda tricky but thank to Finder301 we manage to navigate here without hassle. Thai Base is like a treasure in the neighborhood and now I'm very envy that people living here can dine here anytime they like :(

We were greeted with mini fountain, makes me feel like jumping into the pool after all the chase we had since morning. Anyway to cut story short here are some drooling photo to help open up your appetite.

Crispy and delicious…butter prawns with the right recipe prepared by Thai Base chefs.

Broccoli Prawn - Big portion, very well marinated.

Maxis Om Nom Nom Race - Sate Kajang HJ. Samuri

Finally found our third stop - Sate Kajang HJ. Samuri @ Damansara Utama / Uptown. This is an place where you don't just get to taste famous Kajang Sate but also get to enjoy and feel authentic village ambiance.

No doubt, as a Malaysian, once in a while we would crave for Sate (or Satay in BM), and I do mean lots of it, but who would travel all the way down to Kajang just for sate? That's why HJ. Samuri should be your first choice.

HJ. Samuri is not only hygienic but also spacious with standard pricing.

They serve 4 type of Sate here - Chicken, Lamb, Rabbit, Deer meat. One would be having tough time choosing from such variety. A truly spoil of choice heaven for Sate lover.

You should not miss the peanut sauce with sambal, a truly unique experience that explode in your mouth.

Maxis Om Nom Nom Race - Tarbush Restaurant

Do you shop in Sunway Pyramid often? What do you usually take for lunch? If you are bored with the usual meal you might want to try this 5 star middle east restaurant known as Tarbush Restaurant which offers something different for a decent "shopping mall" price :)

The interior is the bomb, which will definitely catch the attention of anyone passing by :D I have to admit, this is one of the most beautiful restaurant with contemporary Arabic deco I have ever been to.

We started off with Taboleh Salad, a signature dish of romaine lettuce, tomato, cucumber and white radish, tossed in Tarbush sause and dizzled with lemon and olive oil, topped with crunchy, toasted Lebanese bread. Started drooling already?? Read on...

Now here comes the main course...

Arayes Lamb - Perfectly toasted Lebanese bread filled with juicy and tender minced lamb. We feel that this is the Arabic version of Western pizza ;)

Bazilla Chicken - We are fortunate to try out a new dish from the menu which contains rice cooked with green peas & grilled chicken. I just love the aroma of the rice! The chicken tasted soft and tender.

Last but not least, take a look at our refreshing drinks. Tempted already?

Thus far, Tarbush has opened five branches that are strategically located at Jalan Bukit Bintang, Starhill Gallery, Sunway Pyramid, Batu Feringghi Penang.

Maxis Om Nom Nom Race - Strawberry Fields Café, PJ State

Strawberry Fields Cafe was started back in 1988 specialising in Malaysia, Thai, and Western Food.

Strawberry Fields Cafe is strategically located in the heart of PJ state, surrounded by trees all around, a definite place to hang / chill out during the weekend. The prices here are reasonable, most ala-carte meals are priced below RM10.

The staffs are attentive because they are literally competing against each other to rush and serve you :D Double thumbs up.

Everyone of us is served with a cup of nice ice lemon tea.

This Thai Fried Rice is as spicy as it is originated from Thailand itself. Don't be fooled by the name, you've been warned! Daniel (my team mate) couldn't stand it till he sips up all his drink till the last drop in one breath.

Next comes the Spaghetti Carbonara Chicken which is rich and creamy in white source.. The mushroom is fresh and tangy. But you should try this first instead of Thai Fried Rice because once your tongue is burnt you can barely feel anything anymore.. Lol.

Now our favorite part, the dessert! We choose Sago Gula Melaka, which apart from being tasty and sweet, it is a great combination to complete my meal, and to soother the throat after a heavy meal.

If you are interested to try it out anytime soon, here are the contact.
