Dear Blog

Dear blog, sorry that I have been abandoned you for so long. Life was pretty tight up with work and leisure. Life is great anyway when you have something to busy with, which means you are valuable for others as well. I admit I have been quite lazy and giving excuses for not updating blog. Busy with Candy Crush as well, need to be more self control on that. Busy is not a good excuse but it's all about time management and self management. Life is all about non stop learning. Note to myself from now, be determine and motivated in doing anything. Life is short and time will not stop for you.

Recently read an interesting synopsis for a book - Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James. I'm so tempting to buy the book, should I? Anybody read this book before? I heard they will shoot a movie based on this book. I'm sure it will not be show on Malaysia's cinema.

Book Review - The Five People You Meet in Heaven

Author : Mitch Albom
Language : English
Genre(s) : Novel
Publisher : Little, Brown & Time Warner Paperbacks
Publication date : 25 September 2003

My Penny of View : The story began with Eddie's 83 birthday. He worked as maintenance guy in a fun fair after he came back from World War Two and he injured as a crutch. He was a lonely and stubborn old man. This day was a special day for him but he never know this day was his last day on earth. He went to work as usual and do his maintenance job at the Freddy's FreeFall. There was a accident happened at the fun fair and a little girl was about to get killed. Eddie saved the little girl without consideration but he has scarified himself and he continues his journey to heaven.

The first people Eddie met was the The Blue Man. He doesn't remember he met this guy before in his life. The Blue Man explained that Eddie was indirectly causing his death when Eddie was a small kid. He also told Eddie that he will meet five people in heaven. He added: "Some you knew, maybe some you didn't. But they all crossed your path before they died. And they altered it forever."(p.35). The first lesson is that all of us are connected with each other. Everything we do may affect others.

The second people Eddie met was The Captain. He met The Captain during the war where he got his gunshot wound. After came back from war, Eddie never further on his life to achieve his life goal but always used his inability to blame everything. The Captain admitted to Eddie that he was the one shot him during the war to save his life. Eddie was so angry after listen to his explanation but he thanked the Captain of saving his life previously because he understand that The Captain has doing his best. The second lesson is about forgiveness.

The third people Eddie met was Ruby. Ruby Pier was built by Ruby's wealthy husband where Eddie used to work there. Eddie never meet Ruby during his life so it means that events before we are born still affect our lives, as do the people before us. Ruby told Eddie she was so regret that she didn't stay by her father when he was dying. The third lesson stress the importance of forgiveness. We feel angry with other people means we putting burden on our own. If we forgive people, we will feel release.

The forth people Eddie met was his wife, Marguerite. She died young and Eddie has spend 40 years loneliness. He was mad and sad for her death. It was never easy for us to deal with death of the love one. Although the love one died but the feeling of love still on going. The forth lesson is although there is no physically connection between the loves one but the memory growing stronger to ensure our life become greater.

The fifth people Eddie met was a Filipino girl, Tala. Eddie killed Tala accidentally previously during war time. Eddie asked for Tala's forgiveness. He felt sad that he never do anything meaningful. Tala told him that he able to save the little children life. The final lesson is that life is short and make sure we have a meaningful life time.

I get to know about this book from a lovely friend and book review on newspaper. The book is a short and easy to understand story. I understand the powerful of forgiveness because I know this is a small world and you never know you will meet the people you hate again in the future but forgive doesn't mean forget. There are 3 types of people in this world-friend, enemy and nobody. You can categorize the enemy as nobody then you will have a happy life.

Book Review - New Moon

Author : Stephenie Meyer
Language : English
Genre(s) : Young adult, Fantasy, Romance
Publisher : Little, Brown
Publication date : September 6, 2006

My Penny of View : This is a continue love story of a human and a vampire. Bella has been treated as part of Cullens and Edward held a birthday party for her. She definitely felt unhappy because she knew she will getting older but Edward was immortal. During the party, Bella accidentally cut her finger and Jasper attacked her unconsciously. The Cullens felt so terrible about this incident and Edward decided to leave Bella and the town for her own good.

After the Cullen left, Bella's life was miserable and she shifted her depression towards Jacob. Jacob was younger than Bella and they have developed a special relationship. I think that Bella seems like a magnet to those freak things, she discovered that Jacob is a werewolf. According to this story, vampire biggest enemy is werewolf. That's why Jacob and other werewolves helped to fight the Victoria who was tried to revenge on the Cullen for killing her mate.

Deep inside Bella's heart, she still missed Edward and she tried extreme activities to listen to his voice (maybe that was her imagination). Remember Edward's sister-Alice who can see the future? She gave the wrong information to Edward that Bella was committed suicide. Edward followed the Romeo and Juliet's story and asked for death from Volturi in Italy. Bella and Alice stopped him on time. Bella and Edward continued thier love story. Volturi told them that Bella must be killed or transformed into vampire because she knew the existing of vampire. Bella got what she always wanted officially. After the Cullens discussion, Edward only will transform Bella into vampire after she graduated but he has proposed to Bella to marry him.

This is a happy ending for Bella and Edward but Jacob become their love sacrifice. He has put in a lot of effort to make Bella happy when she was depressed and still Bella can't forget about Edward. I just feel so pity for this young werewolf. I think one of the reason this second book of Twilight series called New Moon is because of the introduction of werewolf. So what will going to be next in the next book? A film adaptation is scheduled for release on November 20, 2009.

Warehouse Sales Day

This morning I woke up early to ensure Daniel and I will be the early birds to reach the MPH warehouse sales. We had the bowling and drinking session yesterday, so I just had five hours sleep. When I woke up this morning, I felt a bit dizzy. Photobucket Anyway, the temptation of the cheap and worth books made my mind clear.

The MPH warehouse

KL people are love books or 'Kiasu'?

Photobucket Today is a hot day. I was sweating when I was searching for the books I wanted. They were not just clearing their old stocks but there were some new books were on the sales list. If you purchase more than RM200 above, you will get a goodies bag, even separate receipts. Below are the books I grabbed. Photobucket

Twilight series-Eclipse (RM29) and Breaking Dawn (RM34)

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (RM29) and The Law of Attraction (RM28)

Tuesdays with Morrie (RM20)

Before we left that warehouse area, we saw another warehouse sales. We quickly went to check out for any great deal.

This warehouse sales was so quiet. I didn't grab anything from here. They not just selling Adidas products but also other brands such as Hush Puppies. The stocks here were aging products and the price was not that cheap. We left that warehouse area for lunch and went to next destination-Queen's Park.

This place was a brand new place for me. The concept of the stores similar with the 牛车水. Our first aim Nike Warehouse Sales.

They having high security to make sure the theft don't have chance to steal their products. In another way of saying, some of the items were still expensive although this was a sales. We moved on to the next aim, Esprit having great bargain.

This Esprit outlet selling cheap T-shirts and pants. It definitely more worth compare with you buy it in the store. However, I only found 2 shirts I like and I can't enjoy the great deal from Citibank. Plus the queue for cashier was so long, then I have decided go home without buying anything. I felt so sleepy and my legs was tired but I felt satisfied. Photobucket

Book Review - Twilight

Author : Stephenie Meyer
Language : English
Genre(s) : Young adult, Fantasy, Romance
Publisher : Little, Brown
Publication date : October 5, 2005

My Penny of View : Remember my previous post on Movie Review-Twilight? Siew Siew bought the Twilight book and the New Moon from Borders due to good promotion. This movie triggers me to read this 500 pages novel.

The book began with Bella Swan who moved from Phoenix to Forks, so that she can live with her father, Charlie. In school, there were a charming family-Cullen who was outstanding and attractive. Bella caught Edward on her eye and Edward seems to have the unusual reaction towards Bella. He even attempted to change his schedule to avoid her. This made Bella more curious about him and she found out the story behind this Cullen family. Bella concluded that Edward and his family are vampires. Eventually, after the hard struggling, Bella and Edward fell in love with each other. The high tide of the book was when the vampire tracker-James who seeks to hunt Bella. Edward loved Bella so much and he together with his family found ways to rescue Bella. James persuaded Bella to meet him alone by claiming he had her mom in hand, so that he can taste her blood. Bella surrendered herself, James attacked and bit her. Edward and other Cullens came on time to rescue Bella. Edward sucked the venom out from Bella's hand before the venom transformed her into a vampire and sent her to a hospital. The story ended with a happy ending. Bella expressed her desire to become a vampire but Edward rejected her.

The movie adopted exactly the same from the novel. The movie only managed to present the important scene due to limited film. The characters followed every descriptions from the book. This book is well-written and the language used is easy to understand (my English standard is not so high). This is a romance plus vampire story. I think it try to send a message to all of us saying that love is blind even though he is a dangerous vampire. We should accept every weakness if you really love the person. This novel is a series, so will Bella turn into vampire in the next book?
