My Penny of View : This movie is based on a best selling novel by Sophie Kinsella. Previously 张柏芝 also acted in Hong Kong version of Shopaholic. I can ensure that this movie is not another chick flick because guys also can become shopaholic. Girls will spend more to clothes, shoes and bags while guys will spend more on technology gadgets. So it makes girls have more things to buy. Rebecca Bloomwood is humorous and beautiful women with great fashion sense and she is fantastic columnist. She only have one weakness which is she can't resist the blink blink accessories, branded shoes, clothes and bags. To fulfill her desire, she used the magic card (credit card) until she has accumulated the high debt. Luckily she knew that a permanent job is the source of the debt. Therefore, she was so panic when she lost her job. Her aim was to join the fashion magazine-Alette but the position was filled. Then she decided to join the financial magazine-Success Saving as a stepping stone. She was successful but this was the beginning of lies. She taught the readers on financial management but actually she was so lousy in managed her finance. The debt collector used all the ways to look for Rebecca but she avoiding him with numerous excuses. Rebecca felled from the peak of her career and finally she have made up her mind to sell all her stuffs and lived the whole new life.

This movie is a fine balance between entertainment and it presents a strong moral message. We live in a materialistic world and we able to manage our finance if we manage to differentiate the needs and the wants. No matter what brand of outfits we wear, family and friends always come first. This movie is funny and last but not least romance between Luke and Rebecca.

Rating :
★★★★☆
