My Penny of View : The movie began with Cao Cao was preparing for Guan Yu's funeral. His decapitated head was buried with a wooden body. Then, the story flashed back to previous years. Guan Yu was Cao Cao's captive and he was separated from his brother-Liu Bei. Temporarily he helped Cao Cao to defeat their rivals. He was a capable General and Cao Cao recommended promotion upon his success. Liu Bei went to seek for help from other countries to defeat Cao Cao. Meanwhile, Guan Yu and Liu Bei's family were staying at Cao Cao's territory. Cao Cao always wish Guan Yu will betray his brother and work for him to conquer all the countries in China but Guan Yu won't do so because he was so loyal to Liu Bei. Cao Cao constantly gave precious gifts to Guan Yu but Guan Yu still remain his stand. Cao Cao even tricked Guan Yu with badger game by using Qilan, Liu Bei's 3rd wife. He wished the relationship between Guan Yu and Liu Bei will break up, then Guan Yu will work for him but yet he failed. After the incident, Guan Yu decided to leave Cao Cao's territory and look for his brother, Liu Bei. What will happen to Guan Yu? How come he ended with decapitated head?

If you are a fans of Donnie Yen and Romance of the Three Kingdoms(三国演义), this is definitely is a must watch movie but if you are not, I'm afraid you will fall asleep in the cinema. Photobucket Okay, back to the story. As we know, Guan Yu is famous of his loyalty and righteousness to his brothers regardless any temptation or even death. Police or gangster in Hong Kong are praying Guan Gong. As in the book, Guan Yu is tall and big size, with two long beards and red face(Donnie Yen not so qualify for the physical look of Guan Yu). His weapon is Guan Dao. Donnie Yen's acting was quite good to present his loyalty to his brother although he was in love with the brother's wife. Others expectations such as battle fighting, bloody scenes and Jiang Wen's acting as Cao Cao are up to standards. The drawback of the movie is you have to pay extra attention for their dialogue because they were speaking ancient Chinese.

Rating :

I'm wondering will Donnie Yen change his clothes become Guan Yu because of this movie?
